چکیده

Throughout the spring 2013 semester I continued to work on the frictional model for a rotating lifter system. The previous frictional model assumed friction to be a constant, which only showed to be valid for sufficiently small values of . Now it has been determined that friction is proportional to the velocity, which is valid through all angular displacements. Allowing the lifters to move through air, a non-viscous liquid, 2, allowing us to determine that 0.02708516 0.0006465 . This value of was then used to evaluate the thrust force of a two-armed rotating lifter system in both the horizontal and vertical orientations. In the horizontal orientation of the rotating lifter system, the magnitude of the thrust force was determined to be 163.8856 0.0072 . Moreover, in the vertical orientation of the rotating lifter system, the magnitude of the thrust force was determined to be 184.8056 0.0939 . The magnitude of the thrust force calculated for the vertical configuration of the system is consistent with the magnitude of the thrust force calculated for the horizontal configuration of the rotating lifter system.

Performance evaluation of modified bentlegPlow using finite element approach

ABSTRACT-This paper aims to develop a new design of a bentleg (BL) plow and to determine its performance as compared to the conventional one using finite element approach. The difference between the modified and conventional BL plows is the direction of angle between the projection of cutting blade on horizontal plane normal to plow shank and the line perpendicular to the plow shank in the same...

Development of Seismic Criteria for Seismic Responses of Regular and Irregular Structures in Plan considering Vertical Component of the Near-field Records

Field observations of the incurred damages to the buildings and bridges due to earthquakes in near field show there are various failure modes which are in relation to the forces caused by vertical component. While vertical component of earthquake for ordinary buildings in most seismic regulations and standards is not considered. Therefore, in the current study the effects of vertical and horizo...

Optimization of Centrifugal Casting Parameters of AlSi Alloy by using the Response Surface Methodology

Centrifugal casting is one of the advanced casting branches widely used in the metallurgical industry in which the centrifugal force helps strengthen the workpiece material. The present work attempt to study the effect of the horizontal and vertical centrifugal casting parameters included the centrifugal mold rotation speeds and G-factors values on the quality of the product. The work has been ...

Heat and Mass Transfer Analysis on MHD Peristaltic Prandtl Fluid Model through a Tapered Channel with Thermal Radiation

This paper deals with a theoretical investigation of heat and mass transfer with thermal radiation analysis on hydromagnetic peristaltic Prandtl fluid model with porous medium through an asymmetric tapered vertical channel under the influence of gravity field. Analytical results are found for the velocity, pressure gradient, pressure rise, frictional force, temperature and concentration. The in...
